A Prayer to Celebrate God’s Faithfulness This Year
By Vivian Bricker
Bible Reading:
“Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever” (Psalm 136:26).
Listen or Read Below:
Over the past year, I have encountered numerous difficulties. Whether it be health concerns, financial struggles, or family issues, they always seem to find me. However, despite all these problems, I continue to see God’s faithfulness. He has been with me every step of the way and has surrounded me with His peace.
The same is true for you. God’s faithfulness in our lives is part of His nature and the promise we receive when we accept His salvation. It is not within God’s character to be unfaithful to us (2 Timothy 2:13). We are His beloved children, and we are set apart from the rest of His creation. Since God loves us this much, we do not need to doubt this upcoming New Year; instead, we can celebrate His faithfulness and praise His Name.
This upcoming year may bring many worries with it, but try to reflect on God’s past faithfulness. This is something that I am learning to do, as there are times when my insecurities and fears get the best of me. Rather than looking to God, I look to my problems. By doing this, I am only setting myself up for failure.
I have been challenging myself to look to God and His faithfulness, and to truly celebrate it rather than to doubt it. When our brains tell us that this New Year will only bring problems and worries, we need to remind ourselves that it could also be our best year yet. We don't need to be overly negative just because we are having a tough time. By trusting God and reflecting on Him rather than the worst-case scenarios, we will have more hope for the upcoming year.
Think about all the things you want to do during this New Year. You may be applying for your dream job, getting ready for college, or moving out for the first time. Give all these recent changes over to God and trust in His faithfulness.
He is good, and He will surround you with His comfort, peace, and serenity. The faithfulness of God will make itself apparent in your life and bring about your ultimate good (Romans 8:28).
The Bible tells us, “Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever” (Psalm 136:26). God's faithfulness and love will endure forever. He is the God of Heaven, and everything submits to Him—and this includes the upcoming New Year. There are many wonderful things that could happen this year, and they are rooted in Christ. Allow God to work in this upcoming year and give Him thanks for all His goodness, faithfulness, and love.
Resist the temptation to think negatively. Lean on the side of positivity and expect the best. God only has good things in store for you (Jeremiah 29:11). This upcoming New Year may be the year where everything finally falls into place.
Since God’s love endures forever, we never have to worry about His love or faithfulness running out over the course of the year. He will always be on our side, supporting us and lifting us in the might of His power (Romans 8:31). Let us celebrate this truth throughout the New Year.
God’s faithfulness goes before us, and He will illuminate our path. It might be hard to see Him at times, but all we have to look for is the shimmer of light that is always present. Keep your eyes focused on the Lord and continue to take notice of His faithfulness.
Let's Pray:
Dear God, I'm celebrating Your faithfulness this New Year. You have been so good to me and crowned me with joy. Please help me to turn away from anything that distracts me from You. You are faithful, loving, and caring.
Life may present many challenges to me this upcoming year, yet I know You will guide me through each day. This New Year will be marvelous because You are helping me and extending Your faithfulness in my life. You are worthy of all the praise, glory, and honor.
I celebrate You today and every day, God. Amen.
