Providers Name 2027 Category Leaders in Sweeping Black Book Survey of Australia-New Zealand HIT Vendors

684 healthcare executives, clinicians and technology leaders rank vendors across 19 categories as buyers elevate interoperability, clinical continuity and implementation accountability

NORTH SYDNEY, AU / ACCESS Newswire / August 6, 2026 / Healthcare providers across Australia and New Zealand have named the top-performing vendors in 19 healthcare information technology categories in Black Book Research's new Australia & New Zealand Healthcare Information Technology: 2027 Provider Market Outlook.

The rankings draw on qualified evaluations from 684 provider-side participants; 536 in Australia and 148 in New Zealand spanning healthcare executive, clinical, informatics, operational, financial, risk and technical roles. Each category was measured against 18 market-specific performance indicators, with a minimum of 10 qualified provider evaluations required for ranked inclusion.

Black Book's findings signal a decisive change in provider expectations. Australia and New Zealand healthcare buyers are placing less weight on feature breadth and pilot demonstrations and more on local delivery capacity, production reliability, open integration, regulatory fitness, cyber recovery and measurable work removal.

• Best Practice Software - Primary care and ambulatory platforms

• Microsoft/Nuance - Clinical AI and ambient documentation

• Microsoft - Data, analytics and population health

• CyberCX - Cybersecurity and clinical continuity

• Microsoft Azure - Cloud infrastructure and observability

• Telstra Health - Virtual care and patient flow; aged, home and community care; and mental health and social-care technology

• Sectra - Enterprise imaging, PACS and RIS

• Citadel Health - Pathology and laboratory systems

• Fred IT/eRx Script Exchange - Pharmacy and medicines management

• Solventum - Revenue cycle, HIM, coding and CDI

• Oracle - ERP, finance, supply chain and workforce

• HealthLink - Clinical communications and referrals

• HotDoc - Consumer digital front doors and portals

• DNAnexus - Research, genomics and clinical trials

• Philips - Medical devices, IoMT and UDI

Solventum recorded the highest category score at 9.82, followed by HotDoc at 9.77 and Best Practice Software at 9.76. Telstra Health led three categories, Microsoft-branded solutions led three, and Oracle-branded solutions led two.

The results represent category-specific provider ratings and do not constitute a single overall vendor ranking.

Readiness Data Shows Why Provider Expectations Are Rising

The 2027 outlook is reinforced by Black Book's separate 228-respondent Australian Share-by-Default readiness study:

• 99% believed the initiative could improve care coordination or safer consumer access.

• 92% identified a practical readiness gap.

• Only 18% had tested reporting, exception or failure-monitoring workflows.

• Only 23% could demonstrate upload success, failure and retry history.

• 81% ranked exception auditability among their three largest readiness gaps.
