A group of incredibly gifted and skilled musicians, The Collingsworth Family, turned in a dazzling a cappella cover of the classic tune “Sweeter as the Days Go By.”

However, that person will grow in their faith and learn more about Christ over the course of that relationship. Through prayer and reading the Scripture, that individual will increasingly rely upon Him, seeing His hand at work in their lives and those of others.

In a clip posted on YouTube, The Collingsworth Family gives a terrific and inspiring performance of “Sweeter as the Days Go By,” in which the only instruments used are God-given: their voices. It’s a performance that you’ll want to watch and listen to repeatedly. Their harmonies and how all their voices work together are astounding, creating an almost angelic sound.

The song describes a Christian’s walk with the Lord and how their faith and trust strengthen every day that they serve Him. Who knew that Conan O’Brien was a great singer, as well as a performer? In this live performance, the band gets the audience pumped up for what they are about to hear and see. The lights are shining, and the music is phenomenal. 

Conan enters the stage and introduces Danny Devito, his co-singer. He jokes that Austin Butler, who played Elvis in the movie, wrote the song. He comically begins to sing Suspicious Minds. Danny and Conan sing the classic Elvis hit. Danny sings harmonies with his hat and sunglasses on. Conan has a modern look with swooped hair, modeling after Elvis. The band jams out to the song, and Conan tries to stand like Elvis at the mic. 

The chorus famously sings out:

At the bridge, Conan tries to do his best Elvis impression. They rock the chorus together. Then, Conan walks forward on the stage, gets down on one knee, and sings out to New York. He is comically trying to be like Elvis but is definitely his own performer. They are very entertaining to watch in this tribute to the king of rock. The audience sounds like they are having a blast. The band speeds up at the end and finishes strong with their percussionists right on the beat. The lights flash to the rhythm of the music, and they end up celebrating. Conan makes a large jump on the final note, and he thanks the band and everyone for coming.

It is good to be remembered. Elvis has gone down in history as a wonderful songwriter and performer. Scripture teaches us to leave a legacy of the name of Jesus. No matter what we do, we can know that our impact for Him is everlasting when we honor the King of kings.

Music comes in all genres, styles and formats, including covers. Musicians have likely been performing covers since humans started making sounds. Playing songs initially written, recorded and performed by other musicians is an age-old tradition and practice that will most certainly continue well into the future.

Who doesn’t enjoy hearing someone else’s interpretation of a beloved and classic tune? Of course, not all covers are created equal; that much is entirely accurate. Some covers will be so bad that they may actually ruin the original version for you. However, you may find you like a cover better than the first version.

Anyone who wins American Idol can obviously sing and has a ton of talent. They would not make it through their initial audition and all the following rounds and cuts if they did not have the talent. The show’s judges are handsomely paid to weed out those who can and cannot sing.

Even if the program’s judges failed to do their job, and someone who did not have the talent got far in the competition, America, with their votes, would help rectify that problem. So, the individual who wins Idol every season is thoroughly tested and can definitely sing.

However, winning American Idol and pulling off an outstanding cover of a Celine Dion song are two very different things. Celine Dion has a magnificent, powerful voice, and her songs are suited to someone with her talent. That’s why Abi’s cover of “My Heart Will Go On” is so incredibly impressive!

It is very special when a family can share in a skill together and witnessing this dad and daughter reminds us of the gift of enjoying music with others. God created music to express emotions. The Psalms use music to share feelings and life situations. Whether it is celebration or sorrow, we can go to God today.

Two precious young teens sit on a couch casually in what seems lowkey. The boy wears his glasses, and the girl sits with her pretty dress holding a guitar. She begins to strum the guitar, and then you realize how amazing these two young people are at music. They have such a clear and crisp tone. They are easy to listen to throughout their performance. Their harmonies are spot on and they share sweet smiles together. The duo is called: Maggie and Mo. They have grown up together and now put out music for fun.

It is a true delight to watch these young people sing together. Their voices remind us of the future generation. They show us the beauty and the skills that God continually places in every season. He blesses some with the gift of music to encourage others. Maggie and Mo have been given this skill. 

These young people are talented and have a youtube channel called Maggie and Mo’s Version. It is a channel where they share their version of the songs they enjoy performing. There is a picture of them as young children on their channel.

The song “In My Life” by the Beatles is about the blessing of friendships and family, old and new. As we reflect on the gifts of relationships within our own lives, may we remember that, ultimately, it has been God who blessed us in this way. He created a community for a purpose. He desires for us to know Him and others. We are commanded to love God and love people because when we do this, we are living life the way the Lord intended. Relationships are a continual blessing.

Little ones who come out and do something bold like this are inspiring. They remind us that we can also be brave, try new things, and use our talents. God has gifted each of us uniquely. He has empowered us by His Spirit to use our gifts to glorify Him and testify of His gospel of hope to the world. As we are proud to be watching these kids perform, may it remind us that our heavenly Father is very proud of us too, when we use the gifts He has entrusted to us. Even our smallest moments dedicated to Him are not wasted.
