Father-Daughter Duet to Olivia Newton-John’s ‘Hopelessly Devoted To You’

The 1978 film Grease is a beloved classic, with John Travolta and the late Olivia Newton-John as high school students who fell in love over the summer. The movie has a ton of memorable scenes and musical numbers, including “Hopelessly Devoted to You.”

Adrian and Emma-Jean Galliard, a father-daughter duo, tried their hand at the song made famous by Sandy in Grease. The video posted on YouTube shows dad and daughter standing near a microphone as they take turns belting out the lyrics to the popular tune.

The song’s lyrics tell the story of a young woman fighting a battle between her heart and mind. Her mind tells her to do one thing while her heart yearns for an entirely different course of action.

“My head is sayin', 'Fool, forget him’
My heart is sayin’, 'Don’t let go’
Hold on to the end, that’s what I intend to do”

First up is Emma-Jean. It takes only seconds to realize that this young lady has a ton of musical talent. She sings the first verse. Her father, Adrian, takes over the singing duties for the second verse.

Adrian, like his daughter, has a fair amount of musical talent and ability. Dad shows throughout the classic song that he can sing, but Emma-Jean steals the show.

It's startling, at times, to hear a voice that sounds like that coming from someone so young. There were instances in the video where I thought someone else had dubbed over Emma-Jean’s voice in the video. She hits such high notes and sounds very much like a seasoned professional.

Users commenting on the duo’s YouTube video expressed their complete astonishment, praising Adrian and Emma-Jean for their performance.

“Olivia is smiling down on you two for this wonderful cover!! Gave me chills!! Emma-Jean, your voice has gotten even more powerful, my girl!!! Wow!” one person wrote.

“Such an enjoyable presentation by Father and Daughter. Their harmonising is wonderful with their voices blending effortlessly together. Well done,” a second person added.

Psalm 96:1 “O sing to the Lord a new song: sing to the Lord, all the earth.”

‘Ole Montana’ Performed in a Field by The Riverside

Friendship can and does make a fulfilling life all the richer. Having someone to share a laugh with and be a shoulder to cry upon is invaluable.

The song “Ole Montana” by The Riverside is a tune about seeking help from a friend while navigating difficult, uncertain periods of life. The song begins with the songwriter detailing how he has gone months without a sign of a friend.

In the first verse, the songwriter is lost in the wilderness, searching for a way through. He’s looking for a little help from a friend. At about the 45-second mark in the video, a young woman steps up to the microphone and performs a beautiful violin solo.

Next, after locating a friend after months of searching, the songwriter asks this person a series of questions. They hope they have found someone dependable and who will be there during life’s inevitable storms.

“And if I’m scared, Will I be alone
And if I give up, would you pull me through”

In addition to the simple, but effective lyrics about friendship and the difficulties of life, the song’s video works in a similar way.

All five musicians stand in a semi-circle formation near a microphone outside in a rolling field. But with the beautiful landscape and the inventive camera angles, the video never does get boring or tedious. Instead, the primary focus remains on the melody and its lyrics. However, thanks to the fields in the background, we are still treated to breathtaking shots of God’s wondrous and majestic scenery.

Be sure to check out this awesome, bluegrass-type song from The Riverside.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falls; for he has not another to help him up.”

‘There Must Be An Angel’ Duet by Annie Lennox Daughter Lola

The Eurythmics, in the 1980s, produced several highly recognizable and chart-topping hits. Due to their distinct sound, most can spot a Eurythmics song within the first couple of notes.

“Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” and “Here Comes the Rain Again” are two of their biggest hits. This time, though, Eurythmics member Annie Lennox performed another of the 1980s duo’s popular tunes with help from her daughter.

In a video posted to YouTube, Annie and her daughter Lola Lennox perform “There Must Be An Angel.” In the video, Annie sits and plays the piano and sings the song’s opening verse.

The songwriter, in the opening verse, makes it clear that they are in an unexplainable euphoric state. Being surrounded by angels has to be the only reason for their overwhelming happiness and bliss. Angels, the song adds, are “playing with my heart.”

“No one on earth could feel like this
I’m thrown and overblown with bliss
There must be an Angel”

After her mother belts out the first verse and the chorus, Lola joins in and sings the second verse herself. It’s clear from the beginning Lola inherited her mother’s musical talent.

This time, when the song reaches the chorus, mother and daughter sing together about conversing with the heavenly beings.

For the song’s third and final verse, Annie and Lola alternate back and forth singing. One will belt out a line or two as the other comes back and sings the following line.

Finally, the mother and daughter duo end the song and video by displaying their vocal talents. Both go off on awesome and impressive vocal runs.

The song, originally released in 1985, is performed beautifully by mother and daughter.

Exodus 23:20 “Behold, I send an angel before you, to keep you by the way, and to bring you into the place which I have prepared.”

‘Love Train’ by Clark Family Creative The Quarantine Kids

There is plenty of hate, hostility and divisiveness in the world. A quick look at the headlines on the nightly news and the posts on social media prove this to be true. More love and kindness are desperately needed in society today.

The Clark Family Creative, which also encompasses The Quarantine Kids, performs a popular 1970s song about spreading love all across the world: “Love Train” by The O’Jays.

The cute video begins with family members sitting at various instruments throughout the room. The little girl at the microphone announces the group’s upcoming performance of “Love Train.” Dad, Colt Clark, at the back of the room with the guitar and microphone, counts the little performers down and away they go!

The family is obviously having a ton of fun playing the classic song!

The little girl in the foreground sways back and forth with the rhythm of the music. Colt, in the background, moves his body around with the music as well. It’s also clear that the child on the drums, who provides background vocals, and the young man sitting in the chair playing guitar are having a ball. Smiles and laughter abound during the performance!

The catchy and beloved song encourages people to put whatever differences they may have aside and love one another.

“People all over the world
Join hands
Start a love train, love train”

What a lovely and fun video of a family simply having a great time playing music together!

The video’s description indicates that the entire production really is a family affair. In addition to the three children and dad playing The O’Jays hit on camera, mom, Aubree, is the person running the camera.

Mother-Son Sing Heartfelt Duet To ‘Easy On Me’

There are plenty of songs by all kinds of different artists that get the cover treatment. But one mother and son duo recently decided to cover a hit by a musician most likely would not dare try.

Adele has a powerhouse voice. Her hit songs are iconic and instantly recognizable. Most people, even if they do not particularly enjoy her music, will wholeheartedly agree she can sing. Adele’s stunning voice is in a class all its own. Simply put: If you’re going to try your hand at an Adele song, you better be able to do it justice.

However, these facts did not scare Jordan Rabjohn and Katherine Hallam away from covering Adele’s “Easy On Me.” That’s because it only takes a second or two into their YouTube video of them belting out the song to realize that both can sing as well!

Both nail the British singer’s hit.

Not only can both sing, but they are having a ball doing it. At various points throughout the nearly 3-minute and 45-second video, both laugh, smile and just enjoy each other's company.

Others commenting on their YouTube video expressed their delight and amazement at the mom and son's performance.

“Oh! My Gosh!!!! It’s not enough taking on Adele but also, to CRUSH it?! This was AMAZING!!!” one person wrote.

“Wow Your voices just blow me away. Absolutely Stunning Love Love Love Love this song and now You have made it even better Thank You,” a second person added.

One person even stated Adele would approve of the mother-son cover of her song.

“Adele would be moved by this rendition of her song, trust me, would be bawling her eyes out.”

John 16:21 “When a woman is about to give birth, she has sorrow, because her hour is come; but when she has given birth to the child, the pain is put out of her mind by the joy that a man has come in the world.”

‘Biblical’ by Calum Scott Performed by Kodi Lee

Inspiration can come in many different forms. A song with a specific lyric that catches our ear can compel us to do something we’ve been meaning to do for years. A beautifully written poem or a lovely photograph can have a similar effect. But inspiration can also come from watching or listening to people as well.

Kodi Lee is one of those people who is an inspiration to many. Kodi, a singer-songwriter, was the winner of America’s Got Talent season 14. His amazing musical ability, including his beautiful singing voice, won over the judges and America! Kodi also happens to be blind and autistic.

Kodi returned to the AGT stage and treated the judges, the studio audience and everyone watching at home to an awesome performance of Calum Scott’s song “Biblical.”

Even before Kodi sat down at the piano, the entire studio audience was standing, chanting his name! They love this young man and his talent.

Once again, Kodi turned in an amazing performance, hitting the high notes on the love song. At various times throughout his performance, the audience cheered and applauded, ending in a standing ovation for the young man.

Kodi is an absolute inspiration! Others commenting on the video of Kodi’s performance were in wholehearted agreement.

“As a mother of an autistic son, I am so proud of Kodi! His mom is a warrior. Autism can’t, doesn’t and won’t stop anyone from being anything they want to be. My son grew up to be a compassionate empathetic and wonderful teacher. God bless Kodi,” one person wrote.

“Kodi HAS changed the world. What an inspiration!!!” a second person added.

Calum Scott, the original performer of the song “Biblical,” even commented on Kodi’s performance, praising the young man.

“I am absolutely blown away by this guy’s talent,” he wrote. “He takes songs and makes them sound like he wrote them himself so it’s an honour to hear Kodi sing one of my songs. Superstar.”

Psalms 16:8 “I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.”

‘You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling’ by The Property Brothers

The Lord is the one who decides who receives what gifts and talents. Some people may be naturally gifted in many different and diverse areas. Others may find they are skilled in only a couple or perhaps just a single field. Two recognizable faces revealed they have a talent in one very unexpected area.

Jonathan and Drew Scott – twin brothers best known for hosting the popular Property Brothers program – can also sing. Yes, in a clip posted to YouTube, on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’s channel, Jonathan and Drew show off their impressive musical ability!

The two brothers, dressed to the nines in tuxes, sing The Righteous Brothers hit “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling.” Likely to capture the look of the original video and the feeling of the 1960s, the video of the two siblings singing is black and white.

As the music begins and the light reveals the two brothers, most will likely assume the video is a joke or a funny bit from the late-night program. But a few seconds in and those initial assumptions are proven entirely wrong!

Not only can the famous siblings sing, surprisingly reaching some of the song’s higher notes, but they also appear to enjoy themselves.

Other people who commented on the video of Jonathan and Drew singing the hit from the 1960s were equally surprised by their previously hidden talent.

“That was so unexpectedly fantastic!!! Jonathan and Drew are just so multi-talented and I am here for it!” one person wrote on YouTube.

“These guys!!!! I was truly surprised at how beautifully they sang this song together. There’s nothing not to love about these two,” someone else added.

Similarly, another person wrote about how they first thought the video was nothing but a prank on the viewer.

“I thought this was a joke. But the dudes killed it!!”

The Lord has truly blessed Jonathan and Drew with a ton of talent.

Psalms 33:3 “Sing to him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise.”

‘The Sound of Silence’ Powerful Video by Tom Ball

One man following his appearance on America’s Got Talent: All Stars is again showing off his stunning and beautiful voice in a powerful new video.

Tom Ball, a 24-year-old high school teacher from England, previously stunned all three judges with his dazzling performance of Simon and Garfunkel’s beloved classic, “The Sound of Silence.”

Now, Tom has released an original video on YouTube of him singing the song. The video, much like Tom’s voice, is compelling. The video shows the political unrest that abounds in the world and several people suffering silently in different situations. People are hurting in our world, as the video shows.

Once again, Tom’s rendition of “The Sound of Silence” is awesome! At approximately the 1:30-minute mark, Tom shows off his amazing vocal range as he hits those high notes.

What a voice!

Tom does the song more than justice while also managing to make the tune his own, which is always hard to do, especially with something that is so recognizable.

This talented young man has a bright career ahead of him. The Lord has blessed him with a ton of musical talent.

On YouTube, under the video, one of Tom’s former students offered their praise and admitted how everything still seems a little odd.

“This is so weird, less than a year ago I was being taught by Tom and now he’s got thousands of fans… Great Job Mr Ball!” the user commented.

Tom’s unlikely and surprising rise to international fame and acclaim shows that you never ever know what God has in store. He is always working and always moving.

Be sure to watch the video to hear Tom’s lovely voice and to view the video's startling and powerful images.

Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

‘Slemish Mountain’ by Cotton Pickin Kids

The Lord has blessed everyone with different skills, talents and interests. This scattering and dispersing of abilities among individuals help keep life interesting and fresh. Life would get seriously tedious and boring quickly if everyone had the same likes, dislikes and hobbies.

One group of young people blessed with an abundance of musical talent is the Cotton Pickin Kids. In one of the latest videos posted to their YouTube channel, the children take to the stage for a performance of “Slemish Mountain.”

Fans of bluegrass and instrumentals will be pleased as the kids play the catchy and toe-tapping tune. The video begins with one man introducing the kids to the audience and away the kids go as they strum on and pluck their instruments!

The kids play the violin, banjos and bass guitar with an expert level of skill and precision, never missing a beat throughout their nearly 3-minute performance!

God has obviously blessed these children with the skill to make beautiful sounds that delight the ear!

Others commenting on the video also praised the young musicians for their outstanding performance.

“Fantastic guys, you just keep getting better and better!” one person wrote.

“Not just a kid’s band. Bonafide outstanding musicians! I’m from Mississippi but willing to give a big Roll Tide!” a second person commented.

“Excellent!!! Bravo! I really enjoyed that piece. Well played. Thank you All.,” a third person posted.

While the children’s skill level and performance are impressive, it’s even more so given the young age of the performers. How good will they be in 2 years, 5 years or even 10 years? It will be interesting to watch and see where and how far this group of talented young people go in their musical careers.

James 1:17 “Every good and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no fickleness, neither shadow of turning.”

“Don't Know Why” by Singing Duo Jake and Shelby

Check out singing duo Jake and Shelby as they perform “Don’t Know Why,” and you may wonder why you’ve not heard of them already!

These two are amazing! The music is simple and beautiful; the video is subtle and appealing.

Jake & Shelby, the pop singing and songwriting duo from Nashville, Tennessee, originated in February 2022, according to one of their FaceBook posts.

In that year, they have gained many followers on their social media platforms and had lots of fun making music together. Their goal is to “show others that they are never alone,” bringing people together with the songs they write and perform.

Jake and Shelby are clearly young, and they seem so utterly natural. His stellar, curly man bun and her gorgeous, dreamy eyes grab viewers’ attention immediately. Their black combat boots  tapping in unison, Jake’s gentile smile, the gentle sweep of her hair, and even the chipped polish on her nails are super endearing!

With regard to the music, these two don’t need anything fancy. Her voice is beguiling, and his guitar is the perfect accompaniment! They both demonstrate such ease and comfort with one another and the music, definitely doing Nora Jones proud!

“Don’t Know Why” was written by Jesse Harris, but it was Nora Jones who recorded the song in 2002, earning “Don’t Know Why” three Grammy Awards in 2003. The song’s first verse goes as follows:

I waited till I saw the sun
I don't know why I didn't come
I left you by the house of fun
I don't know why I didn't come

The song tells the story of one person in a couple who doesn’t want to be alone but who cannot commit to committing. It’s kinda sad!

Jake and Shelby state on their website that they are best friends. They love playing music and doing just about anything else together. Whether there is a romance between them or not—and it looks like there is—they are certainly musicians that many will fall for!

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7

‘Take Me Home’ by Celtic Thunder

A majority of people love the familiar and enjoy being surrounded by what they know. Home, for most, is that special place. It’s often where what is near and dear to us resides. If that’s the case, who doesn’t want to return home?

The group Celtic Thunder beautifully sings a song about that yearning and desire to go to where our hearts are most at peace: home. In addition to being surrounded by a friendly environment, the lyrics make it clear they long for the people who reside in their hometown.

In the clip on YouTube, each group member walks onto the stage to applause. Each group member then sings a verse by themself. Then the five guys blend their voices together and delightfully harmonize on the chorus.

“Oh take me home
Oh to the people
I left behind”

While the tune is short and sweet with a very straightforward message, the lyrics are written with expert-level precision and vivid detail. The lyrics paint listeners a picture of a home in a secluded area, separated by a body of water, mountains and dust-covered lands.

The songwriter’s words immediately bring about images of a small rural area where life is uncomplicated, where everyone knows everyone and helps one another when possible. It sounds very much like something Norman Rockwell would have painted.

The song’s lyrics are reinforced by the stage and the setting seen in the video. The stage is very minimalistic. The screen behind the vocalists and the accompanying band of musicians is a dark blue hue. Several trees can also be seen in the background as well.

The song is enjoyable as its lyrics draw upon nostalgia and the memories of days and years past, a time when life was much simpler.

Be sure and give the song a listen!
