WASHINGTON (AP) – The Supreme Court has rejected an appeal from former reality star Josh Duggar of the TLC show “19 Kids and Counting.” The court did not give a reason on why it refused to take up Duggar’s case. Duggar was convicted in 2021 of downloading sexual abuse images involving children onto a computer at the car dealership he owned. He is serving a sentence of 12-and-a-half years in prison. Lower courts had rejected Duggar’s argument that his attorneys should have been allowed to ask a former dealership employee who used the same computer about a prior sex conviction.
BOSTON (AP) – Sony Music Entertainment, UMG Recordings and Warner Records are among the record labels suing two artificial intelligence companies for copyright infringement. The Recording Industry Association of America has announced a lawsuit filed in Boston against Suno AI, and another filed in New York against Uncharted Labs, the developer of Udio AI. RIAA Chairman Mitch Glazier says in a statement that Suno and Udio claim it’s fair to exploit artists for the companies' own profits without consent or pay. Suno CEO Mikey Shulman says in a statement its technology does not allow users to reference specific artists. Udio did not respond to requests for comment.
LONDON (AP) – One of the guys dressed in tuxedos and top hats onstage with Taylor Swift at her London show yesterday was Travis Kelce. He was part of a skit before the song “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart” at her Wembley Stadium concert. In fan video, Kelce is seen carrying Swift, fanning and powdering her nose, and hamming it up. Swift writes on Instagram she is “still cracking up/swooning over” Kelce's “Eras Tour” debut.
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) – When Paul Reiser said, “This is not my locker” in “Beverly Hills Cop,” it was because he did not know how to get out of the scene. Little did he know that line would follow him for 40 years. Reiser says it was a throwaway line, but people still say it to him all the time. He’s been at airports and people will change it up by saying, “This is not my suitcase,” which confuses him momentarily until he realizes it’s a riff on the movie. Reiser says he had “no idea that that little silly line would become a thing.” Reiser returns for “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F,” which premieres on Netflix on July 3.
