Together, these new configurations highlight Akumin’s commitment to advancing imaging access and redefining flexibility in diagnostic imaging delivery.

The Akumin AXIS 1.5T MRI expands Akumin’s portfolio of relocatable imaging suites designed to address key industry challenges such as limited capacity, rising capital costs, and lengthy construction timelines. The new configuration, featuring Magnetom Viato 1.5T technology from Siemens Healthineers, delivers exceptional image quality, advanced automation, and a quiet, patient-centered experience in a fully equipped relocatable environment that can be deployed quickly and efficiently.

The Akumin AXIS Drop Trailer introduces a new standard in mobile imaging design. Its axle system with hydraulics lowers the trailer to the ground in seconds, providing direct, step-free and lift-free access for patients. The design combines the mobility of a trailer with the look, feel, and functionality of a permanent imaging suite.

Configured with the Biograph Trinion positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scanner from Siemens Healthineers, the Drop Trailer expands access to advanced PET/CT studies for neurological conditions such as Alzheimer’s and other emerging radiotracer applications. It offers hospitals and health systems a faster, more cost-effective way to deliver advanced imaging without the infrastructure demands or capital expense of new construction.

“The Akumin AXIS line is designed to change how advanced imaging and radiation therapy are delivered,” said Henry Howe, Chief Executive Officer of Akumin. “By combining innovative engineering with state-of-the-art imaging technology, we’re helping hospitals meet patient demand faster while maintaining the highest standard of care.”

Akumin’s AXIS product line comprises MRI, PET/CT, and LINAC radiation therapy configurations, spanning diagnostic imaging and cancer care, and now includes the Drop Trailer, which adds new mobility and convenience to its offerings. Multiple units are already deployed and treating patients at hospitals across the United States, helping support health systems as they expand capacity and patient access to both imaging and cancer treatment services.

“Siemens Healthineers is proud to collaborate with Akumin to make advanced imaging more accessible,” said John Kowal, president and head of the Americas, Siemens Healthineers. “Together, we’re delivering solutions that combine precision, efficiency, and patient comfort in mobile and relocatable environments.”

Both innovations debuted at Akumin Booth #6758 in the North Hall at RSNA, where attendees and media were invited to tour the new units and experience Akumin’s next generation of relocatable and mobile designs.

Each Akumin AXIS solution is built to help hospitals and health systems overcome challenges in capacity, capital, and time by providing fully equipped clinics that can be deployed quickly and relocated as needs evolve. The company is exploring the expansion of the Akumin AXIS Drop Trailer line into additional modalities in 2026, reinforcing its leadership in mobile imaging innovation.

“Akumin AXIS is about flexibility, speed, and patient-centered design,” Howe added. “We’re proud to redefine how and where advanced imaging and cancer care can be delivered.”
