DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mar 24, 2026--

BasePoint, a Texas-based behavioral health organization specializing in teen and young adult mental health and dual-diagnosis treatment, announced the appointment of Brent Turner to its board of directors. Turner’s leadership roles at several of the nation’s top behavioral health organizations will strengthen BasePoint’s commitment to clinical excellence, access to care and responsible growth.

Access to mental health care remains a critical challenge across Texas — ranked 50th in the nation based on Mental Health America’s 2025 Access to Care measures. BasePoint is expanding its footprint to close care gaps for patients ages 11 to 35 with plans to operate 10 facilities by 2028. This includes expansion into a second major metro area, while continuing to deliver specialized partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment that integrates psychiatric services, therapy, family engagement, and coordinated care — both virtually and in person.

“Brent’s track record of building and growing behavioral health care organizations will help us advance our mission to bring accessible, understandable and evidence-based behavioral health care to our patients and their families,” said Blake Serpa, chief executive officer of BasePoint. “His strategic insight, industry perspective and understanding of the behavioral health landscape will enhance our ability to serve more patients while maintaining our high standards for clinical excellence and outcomes.”

Across Texas, hundreds of thousands of emergency department visits each year involve mental health and substance use concerns, according to Texas hospital emergency department utilization data. Most counties face shortages of mental health professionals — designated as mental health professional shortage areas by the U.S. Health Resources & Services Administration — often leaving families with few alternatives during a crisis.

“It’s an honor to join BasePoint’s board and support an organization that is meeting such a serious need with quality care, clinical integrity and expanded access to meaningful mental health services for adolescents and young adults,” Turner said.

Turner most recently served as chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors of Summit Behavioral Healthcare.

“Bringing Brent onto the BasePoint board allows us to think more strategically as we continue to build BasePoint into a regional — and ultimately national — platform,” said Roy M. Serpa, founder and chairman. “Our mental health and clinical outpatient model is second to none in driving outcomes for adolescents and young adults.”

This appointment reflects BasePoint’s continued investment in closing a critical gap in mental health care for teens and young adults with a model built to set a new standard. BasePoint operates a centralized Patient Access Center open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week, 365 days a year, providing same-day, in-person and virtual mental health and crisis assessments. Licensed clinicians deliver timely evaluations and clear care recommendations, helping families access the appropriate level of support quickly and reducing unnecessary reliance on emergency departments and inpatient settings.

About BasePoint

BasePoint is a leading provider of behavioral health care services for adolescents and young adults in Texas. The organization operates four facilities across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, supported by a statewide virtual care platform, delivering evidence-based partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment that integrates psychiatric services, therapy and family support.

With approximately 200 employees, BasePoint is one of the largest privately owned adolescent and young adult PHP/IOP providers in Texas. Founded to expand access to high-quality mental health care, BasePoint continues to grow its footprint across the state, with plans to open additional facilities in major Texas metros while maintaining a focus on clinical excellence, outcomes and family-centered care.
