SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Ambarella Inc. (AMBA) on Tuesday reported a loss of $60.6 million in its fiscal fourth quarter.

The Santa Clara, California-based company said it had a loss of $1.50 per share. Losses, adjusted for stock option expense and pretax expenses, came to 24 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 10 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 33 cents per share.

The video-compression chipmaker posted revenue of $51.6 million in the period, which missed Street forecasts. Eight analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $51.7 million.

For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $169.4 million, or $4.25 per share. Revenue was reported as $226.5 million.

For the current quarter ending in April, Ambarella said it expects revenue in the range of $52 million to $56 million.

Ambarella shares have decreased slightly more than 5% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $57.96, a decline of 37% in the last 12 months.
