Arrest of Florida man made in southwest Missouri killing

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Police in southwest Missouri say a Florida truck driver has been arrested in the February shooting death of a man in downtown Springfield. Police say 45-year-old Thomas Haynes was arrested Thursday in Springfield on charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the killing of 32-year-old Robert Moffett. Police say Moffett was fatally shot on Feb. 6, shortly after midnight. Court records say Moffett had been arguing with another man moments before the shooting, and surveillance video and witness testimony led police to Haynes. Police say Haynes has denied any involvement and told investigators he was not in Springfield at the time of the shooting.
