Anythink Libraries, Adams County’s public library district, will launch the Freedom to Read Collection during National Banned Books Week, Oct. 5-11, 2025. The first library in Colorado to do this type of collection, Freedom to Read expands access to banned, challenged and restricted titles, along with foundational documents like the U.S. Constitution, all of which underscores Anythink Libraries’ commitment to shared access for all.

The Freedom to Read Collection is available at no cost through the Palace app for iOS and Android. It is open to anyone in Adams County and Colorado, with no library card required. Users simply create an account with a name and email address, and location services confirm eligibility.

“This collection ensures our community has access to stories that spark conversation and reflect a wide range of experiences,” said Mark Fink, Executive Director of Anythink Libraries. “The freedom to read is essential for curiosity, creativity and connection.”

“Providing access to these books empowers readers to engage with new perspectives and make up their own minds,” said Logan Macdonald, Director of Products and Technology at Anythink Libraries. “That’s what libraries are here to do.”

Banned Books Week is an annual event spotlighting attempts to censor books in schools and libraries. The 2025 national theme, “Let Freedom Read,” emphasizes the importance of protecting intellectual freedom and resisting censorship.
