CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec 2, 2025--

ALIS, the leading senior living intelligent eHR software, today announced the release of The State of Assisted Living in 2025, a first-of-its-kind benchmarking report built from data collected across 500 senior living communities (assisted living, memory care, and independent living) nationwide.

The dataset—known as the ALIS 500 —captures key performance indicators across diverse geographies, ownership models, and community sizes, offering operators real-time insight into national trends shaping the senior living industry. John Shafaee, CEO of ALIS, notes, “ The industry has been asking for operational and clinical benchmarking for years because these KPIs are directly tied to the financial success and sustainability of each community and entire portfolios.”

Developed by ALIS’s Data Science team, the ALIS 500 represents more than 30,000 resident records from communities. The dataset is updated quarterly to track evolving industry trends and inform decision-making for owners, operators, and their capital partners.

Key Findings from ALIS 500 (Q3 2025):

  • Median Occupancy: 86.1%, closely aligned with national NIC MAPbenchmarks.
  • Resident Age: Average of 82.9 years (a decrease from 83.4–the average age of residents in the Q2 ALIS 500); 21% are 90+.
  • Memory Care Utilization: 32% of residents use Memory Care services.
  • Length of Stay (LoS): Average 493 days, median 258 days—with 58% of residents moving out within one year.

Brian Storey, President of Grace Management, adds, “ The ALIS 500 provides a powerful layer of insight into resident trends, occupancy dynamics, and care needs, enabling our teams to anticipate and respond to market shifts with greater precision and agility. By integrating this platform into our decision-making process, we gain real-time visibility that supports proactive strategies—strengthening our ability to serve residents, support families, and optimize community performance in an ever-changing environment.

These findings underscore how data-backed visibility is transforming senior living strategy. With the ALIS 500, operators gain the clarity required to make decisions that meaningfully improve resident outcomes and portfolio performance.
