How Socialists Quietly Took Power From Distracted Dems

In this must-read Townhall analysis, Ashley Evdokimo explains how the Democratic Party spent nearly a decade united around one goal — stopping Donald Trump — while the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) worked methodically behind the scenes.

Chicago Police Superintendent To Retire

Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling says he will retire July 15 after three years leading the nation's second-largest police force. Snelling oversaw the department during a period that included declining murder and shooting numbers, the Democratic National Convention and federal immigration enforcement operations in the city. Mayor Brandon Johnson thanked Snelling for his leadership and said Assistant Superintendent Fred Waller will serve as interim superintendent while the city searches for a permanent replacement.

Trump Administration Sues Over Gun Laws

The Trump administration has filed federal lawsuits against California and Virginia, challenging newly enacted state laws that restrict the sale of certain semiautomatic firearms. The Justice Department argues the laws violate the Second Amendment and unlawfully limit Americans' constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Virginia's law bans the sale and manufacture of certain semiautomatic firearms, while California's measure prohibits gun dealers from selling some handguns that can be easily converted to fully automatic weapons. Attorneys general in both states say they intend to vigorously defend the laws in court.

Extreme Heat Grips Northeast Before July Fourth

A dangerous heat wave is spreading across the Northeast just ahead of the Fourth of July holiday, prompting heat warnings and advisories for millions of people. Forecasters say temperatures in cities including New York, Boston and Philadelphia could climb into the 90s, with some areas expected to reach or exceed 100 degrees. Combined with high humidity, heat index values will make conditions feel even hotter. Officials are urging residents to stay hydrated, limit time outdoors during the hottest parts of the day and check on vulnerable neighbors as the extreme heat is expected to last through much of the holiday weekend.

FBI Evaluates Ransom Notes in Guthrie Case

The FBI says it has ruled out some ransom notes received in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie as extortion attempts but is continuing to examine others that investigators believe could be credible. Authorities have not disclosed how many ransom notes have been received, saying only that there have been several. The Pima County Sheriff's Department, which is also investigating the case, declined to comment on the notes. Nancy Guthrie, the mother of "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie, has been missing for five months as investigators continue to search for answers.

Trump Debuts New Air Force One

President Donald Trump has made his first official flight aboard a newly refurbished Air Force One, a Boeing 747-800 donated by Qatar. The aircraft features Trump's preferred red, gold, and navy-blue exterior, replacing the traditional light-blue color scheme used on previous presidential planes. Inside, the jet includes luxury upgrades such as wood paneling, plush carpeting, lie-flat seating and customized presidential details. Trump flew the aircraft to North Dakota, where he toured the new Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library ahead of its official opening during the nation's 250th Independence Day celebrations.

States Weigh Fees for Companies Using Medicaid

A growing number of states are considering charging companies whose workers rely on Medicaid for health coverage, as states look for ways to offset rising healthcare costs. New Jersey is moving forward with a plan to charge affected employers, while California lawmakers are calling for a similar proposal to be developed next year. Supporters say the idea could help states recover costs when large companies employ workers who qualify for taxpayer-funded health coverage. But critics, including some businesses and liberal organizations, warn the policy could make it harder for lower-income Americans to find and keep jobs. The debate comes as new federal policies are expected to leave fewer people covered and shift more healthcare costs onto states.

Iran Warns Oil Tankers To Use Approved Routes In Hormuz Or Face 'Forceful Response'

Iran's military is warning that all oil tankers traveling through the Strait of Hormuz must use Iran-approved shipping routes or face what it called a “forceful response.” The warning aired on Iranian state television and came from Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya military command. Officials said any failure to follow navigation protocols would be met with an immediate response from the armed forces. Iran also criticized the continued presence of U.S. fighter jets over the strait, saying it threatens security in the key waterway. The warning comes amid heightened tensions in the Persian Gulf and ongoing diplomatic efforts between the United States and Iran.

U.S. And Iran Conclude Latest Talks

The United States and Iran have concluded another round of indirect talks in Qatar without any major breakthrough toward a lasting peace agreement. Negotiators spent two days in Doha focusing primarily on maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz and the status of frozen Iranian assets, rather than broader issues such as Iran's nuclear program. While officials described the discussions as constructive, both sides left without announcing significant progress on the core disputes. Further negotiations are expected in the coming days as diplomatic efforts continue.

American Universities Are Creating Faculty Lounge Communists

The Rise of Marxist Ideology in the US: A Growing Threat to American Values In a shocking trend, the Democratic Party is being taken over by Marxist ideology, and it's not just a minor issue. The speaker of this episode delves into the alarming rise of Democratic Socialists of America, who are pushing a communist agenda that's eerily similar to the failed ideologies of the past. With the recent wins of candidates like Malutt Carols Kiros in Colorado and Ma'm Danny in New York City, it's clear that this movement is gaining momentum. The conversation with Professor Nicholas Giordano, a Campus Reform Higher Education fellow, sheds light on the concerning connection between university campuses and the spread of Marxist ideology. He explains how the more education someone has, the more likely they are to become a socialist, despite the historical failures of these ideologies. The professor also highlights the irony that the people pushing this agenda are often the ones who have benefited from the very system they're trying to dismantle. The discussion touches on the Democratic Party's failure to address the root of the problem, which lies in the education system. The professor emphasizes the need for a more nuanced understanding of capitalism and the dangers of socialism. He also points out the hypocrisy of politicians like Ma'm Danny, who claim to care about communities but actually prioritize their own agendas. As the speaker warns, it's time to wake up and take action. The rise of Marxist ideology in the US is a threat to American values and the principles that have made this country great. Josh is then joined by bestselling author Eric Metaxas to discuss his timely new book, Revolution: The Birth of the Greatest Nation in the History of the World. Together, they explore the incredible story behind America's founding, separate fact from fiction about the Founding Fathers, and explain why so many Americans have forgotten the ideas that gave birth to the greatest experiment in self-government the world has ever known.
