Six To Be Sentenced In Texas Detention Center Shooting Case

Six people who pleaded guilty to federal terrorism charges are scheduled to be sentenced today for their roles in a shooting outside an immigration detention center in Texas last year. The July Fourth attack wounded a local police officer responding to the scene during a demonstration outside the detention facility. Federal prosecutors have described the incident as a coordinated terrorist attack carried out by individuals affiliated with Antifa. The defendants each pleaded guilty to terrorism-related charges in federal court. Sentencing is expected to conclude the high-profile case, which drew national attention amid ongoing debates over political violence and domestic extremism.

E. Jean Carroll Seeks $5.8 Million From Trump

Writer E. Jean Carroll is asking a federal judge to order President Trump to pay nearly $5.8 million following a 2023 civil verdict against him. Carroll's attorneys filed papers in Manhattan federal court after the Supreme Court declined to hear Trump's appeal of the verdict. The jury found Trump liable for sexual abuse and defamation, awarding Carroll $5 million. That amount has since grown to nearly $5.8 million with interest. Her attorneys say Trump should no longer be allowed to delay payment.

Pentagon Probe Continues Into Deadly Iran School Strike

More than four months after a deadly missile strike hit a primary school in southeastern Iran, many questions remain unanswered about what happened and who was responsible. The Feb. 28 strike in Minab killed mostly children and has become one of the deadliest reported incidents of the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran. Iran has blamed the United States for the attack, while President Trump has denied U.S. involvement. The Pentagon says its investigation into the strike remains incomplete. Families of the victims are still waiting for a final accounting as conflicting claims and chaotic death tolls continue to cloud the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Ship Runs Aground In Strait Of Hormuz

A foreign container ship has run aground in the Strait of Hormuz after failing to follow an Iran-approved shipping route, according to Iranian state television. Iranian authorities released few details about the vessel or the extent of the incident but said commercial ships transiting the strategic waterway must follow instructions issued by Iran's paramilitary Revolutionary Guard. The grounding comes as tensions remain high in the region despite a fragile U.S.-Iran agreement intended to keep the Strait of Hormuz open to international shipping. The incident follows days of military exchanges and ongoing diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in the Persian Gulf.
