Trump Considers Delaying Todd Blanche's Attorney General Nomination

President Donald Trump says he may withdraw Todd Blanche's nomination for attorney general rather than accept demands from two Republican senators seeking additional assurances before supporting his confirmation. Trump praised his former personal attorney as "a star" and said he would instead keep Blanche serving as acting attorney general until the senators leave office next year if an agreement cannot be reached. The dispute centers on Republican requests for written guarantees regarding how the Justice Department would manage a fund created to settle Trump's lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service. The standoff could delay Senate consideration of Blanche's nomination.

Seattle Police Chief Resigns After Festival Shooting

Seattle Police Chief Shon Barnes has resigned following criticism over the department's handling of information after a deadly shooting at a Seattle food festival last weekend. Mayor Katie Wilson announced Barnes' departure Thursday and appointed Deputy Chief Andre Sayles to serve as interim police chief. The resignation follows growing scrutiny over how quickly authorities released key details about the shooting. Barnes called it an honor to serve the city, while Wilson thanked him for his leadership and service. Sayles, a law enforcement veteran with more than two decades of experience, will lead the department while the city searches for a permanent replacement.

Trump Holds Cabinet Meeting At Camp David For First Time In Second Term

President Donald Trump is holding a Cabinet meeting at the Camp David presidential retreat in Maryland, marking the first time during his second term that the gathering has taken place outside the White House. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the change in location is intended to give Cabinet members an opportunity to meet in a different setting at the historic presidential retreat. Camp David has long served as a secure location for presidents to host meetings with senior advisers and foreign leaders, but Cabinet meetings are typically held at the White House. The administration has not announced any major policy changes tied to the off-site meeting.

DOE Selects Kentucky Site For $100 Billion AI Data Center Project

The U.S. Department of Energy has selected investment firm Brookfield Asset Management to develop a $100 billion artificial intelligence data center complex at the former Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant in western Kentucky. The project will transform part of the former uranium enrichment site into a major AI hub featuring a large-scale data center, a natural gas-fired power plant, battery storage, and upgraded electric transmission infrastructure. Officials say the development is expected to create thousands of jobs and attract tens of billions of dollars in investment. Energy Secretary Chris Wright said the project is part of the Trump administration's broader effort to strengthen U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence and compete with China by repurposing former Department of Energy sites into technology and innovation centers. Construction is expected to be completed by 2031, while environmental cleanup of the former uranium enrichment facility will continue alongside the development. Environmental groups have raised concerns about the site's contamination, water use, and emissions from the planned natural gas power plant.

Zoox Moves Closer To Launching Steering Wheel-Free Robotaxi Service

Amazon-owned Zoox has reached a major milestone in its push to bring fully autonomous ride-hailing to U.S. roads. Federal regulators have approved the company's application to operate a commercial robotaxi service using vehicles that do not have steering wheels or brake pedals. The approval allows Zoox to begin charging passengers for rides once it secures the necessary state and local permits. The purpose-built vehicles are designed specifically for autonomous travel, with no traditional driver's seat or manual controls. The decision marks another step forward in the rapidly growing self-driving vehicle industry, as Zoox and Tesla work to expand autonomous transportation services and compete with industry leader Waymo.

Stolen Civil War Cannonballs Found In Passenger's Checked Bag At Alabama Airport

A routine TSA screening at an Alabama airport uncovered five stolen Civil War-era cannonballs hidden inside a passenger's checked suitcase. Transportation Security Administration officers discovered the inactive cannonballs during an X-ray screening at Gulf Shores International Airport on July 18 after noticing a suspicious object inside the luggage. Officials say the artifacts had been wrapped in paper towels and packed in the suitcase. Investigators determined the cannonballs had been stolen from historic Fort Morgan by a juvenile, who allegedly placed them in a grandmother's checked bag without her knowledge. The artifacts were identified using paint markings applied by fort staff. Authorities say the grandmother was unaware the cannonballs were stolen. Fort Morgan declined to pursue criminal charges, and the historic artifacts have since been returned to the fort.

Trump Says His Board Of Peace Reaches Gaza Disarmament Deal

July 30 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday his so-called "Board of Peace" reached an agreement for the complete disarmament of Palestinian Hamas militants and other armed groups in Gaza. In a post on Truth Social, Trump cast it as a "major milestone in the implementation of the Trump 20-Point Plan" to end Israel's war in Gaza. Trump said the deal would be carried out in phases, with Israeli forces withdrawing as disarmament proceeds and an International Stabilization Force working with a new Palestinian police force to secure the enclave. He thanked mediators Egypt, Qatar and Turkey. "This agreement is a critical step towards Gaza finally being governed by a new Palestinian government that will work closely with the Board of Peace to help the Palestinian people," Trump said. "At the same time, Israel will have the security it deserves," Trump added. Earlier in the day, sources said that talks between mediators and Hamas leaders in Cairo on implementing a U.S.-brokered Gaza peace plan made rare progress although an Israeli official said proposed terms were not satisfactory. Israeli strikes killed at least six Palestinians in Gaza on Thursday, including two children, medics said.

Fauci Recommended Shutting the Country Down!

Dr. Anthony Fauci, a key figure in the COVID-19 pandemic response, revealed in an interview that he recommended shutting down the country to the President to prevent the explosive spread of the virus. Despite acknowledging the serious economic consequences, he emphasized the necessity of this measure. This revelation comes from a diary that documents private conversations Fauci had with various governors and mayors urging them to implement stringent measures. Dr. Deborah Birch, who was part of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, also shared her insights on how blue states, in particular, were perceived to have overreacted to the pandemic to demonstrate their seriousness, especially during a presidential election year. The discussion highlights the complexities and political implications of pandemic management strategies.

The U.S. Needs to Finish the Job in Iran

A recent McLaughlin poll commissioned by the Tea Party Patriots Action Survey reveals significant public support for U.S. action against Iran's nuclear ambitions. The poll, which surveyed general election voters, found that 72% agreed that Iran should not be allowed to block, attack, mine, or extort ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Moreover, 62% of respondents, including 56% of independents, believe the U.S. must complete its mission in Iran to prevent the country from acquiring nuclear weapons. Tea Party Patriots Action Committee Chairman Jenny Beth Martin emphasized that the poll serves as a reality check for the media, highlighting widespread agreement with President Trump's policy. This substantial consensus underscores the importance of ensuring Iran cannot threaten American lives or our allies.
