Bay Turner Talks Taking on 'It Is Well' For Tommee Profitt's 'The Resurrection Of A King'

Bay Turner is stepping into one of the most recognizable hymns of all time and giving it a powerful new life.

On the red carpet at the premiere of The Resurrection of a King, Bay talks with Brandon Woolum about taking on “It Is Well (Because He Lives)” and the pressure of reimagining a song that has meant so much to so many people.

He shares what it was like working with Tommee Profitt, from being pushed vocally to finding peace in the process, and how focusing on worship over perfection changed everything. Bay also reflects on the unforgettable experience of recording with a full orchestra and how it brought him back to his roots as an opera singer.

Plus, he opens up about the message behind the song and why “It Is Well Because He Lives” continues to deepen in meaning in his own life.

Powerful Violin and Saxophone 'The Old Rugged Cross' Hymn Instrumental

This instrumental version of “The Old Rugged Cross,” performed on violin and saxophone, is powerful. This rendition of the beloved old church hymn is one you’ll likely find yourself returning to again and again. Watch the short but moving clip to listen to this beautiful performance of “The Old Rugged Cross,” a tune that is near and dear to the hearts of many.

Is there any other type of music more underutilized than church hymns? Typically, we only hear them during a church’s praise and worship service, and even then, it’s not guaranteed. Many churches have begun to pull away from those classic hymns, opting instead to fill their services with more modern and contemporary Christian music.

Contemporary Christian music is fine and is full of many extremely talented people producing some truly great music. However, for my money, and likely, many other people, nothing compares to those church hymns. How could you ever top “Great is Thy Faithfulness,” “Blessed Assurance,” “Victory in Jesus” and “Amazing Grace?” Of course, that answer is simple: you cannot. Nothing comes close to the wave of emotions that comes across listeners whenever they hear the opening verse of “Amazing Grace,” no matter how many times they’ve heard it.

A clip posted on YouTube features two incredibly talented musicians performing the hymn “The Old Rugged Cross.” But instead of uttering any of those iconic and familiar lyrics, it’s an instrumental version, and it’s fantastic.

“On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross
The emblem of suffering and shame
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain”

With her playing the violin and him on the saxophone, their rendition is a beautiful, dazzling treat for the ears. You will not mind the fact that the hymn’s words are not being sung because you’ll probably be adding your own vocal track as you listen to the two of them play.

1 Corinthians 1:18 “For the word of the cross seems foolish to those who are on the way to destruction; but to us who are on the way to salvation, it is the power of God.”

GENTRI’s Take on 'The Lord’s Prayer' Is a Chilling Performance You Need to Hear

GENTRI’s take on “The Lord’s Prayer” is a chilling performance that you need to hear. More than likely, you’ll find yourself returning to this musical rendition of Christ’s demonstration of how and what to pray for again and again. Watch this short but powerful and moving musical performance of The Lord’s Prayer.

Communication is essential to, well, everyone and for everything. If we did not have the ability to talk to one another, to express thoughts, feelings and opinions, in some form or fashion, life would be very short, lonely and rather painful.  It is through communication that we can and do express our needs and wants.

Relationships are formed through consistent and constant communication. It does not matter if it’s your spouse, your children, your boss, your neighbor, or even your pet: when communication breaks down or ceases, so does that relationship. Jesus understood how important it is to communicate, how it forms, establishes and strengthens relationships. In the Bible, He provided an example of how to communicate with God, the Creator of the universe, properly.

In a clip posted on YouTube, GENTRI, an unbelievably talented group of vocalists, turned Christ’s example of how to communicate with God, The Lord’s Prayer, into a chilling song.

“Our Father, which art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name
Your kingdom come, Your will be done
On Earth, as it is in heaven”

The Lord’s Prayer, without a doubt, is a prayer that most are familiar with and likely can recite entirely from memory. But you likely have never heard Christ’s prayer performed like this. Typically, when people recite the prayer, they do so rapidly that it's easy to forget and overlook the power of this short but simple prayer – an example left for all of us to follow as we pray and communicate with God.

Matthew 6:6 “But when you make your prayer, go into your private room, and, shutting the door, say a prayer to your Father in secret, and your Father, who sees in secret, will give you your reward.”

Tommee Profitt Reimagines Classic Hymns for Cinematic Easter Experience | The Resurrection of a King

Tommee Profitt is bringing timeless hymns into a whole new era.

On the red carpet at the world premiere of The Resurrection of a King, Tommee sits down with Brandon Woolum to talk about reimagining some of the most powerful songs of faith, taking lyrics that have shaped generations and giving them a bold, cinematic sound for today.

From pushing artists outside their comfort zones to carefully matching each voice to the right song, Tommee shares the heart behind the project and why honoring the original message was just as important as reinventing the music. He also explains why this is not just an album, it is a full visual experience with orchestra, choir, and powerful performances for every track.

If you have ever connected to a hymn in a meaningful moment, this conversation gives you a whole new perspective on what those songs can become.

I'll Fly Away' Josiah Queen and Benjamin William Hastings Moving Performance

Check out this moving performance from Josiah Queen and Benjamin William Hastings of the song ‘I’ll Fly Away.’ The music is uplifting and full of hope. We hope it brings you encouragement!

‘There is a place I long to go
Where the pain gets turned away right at the door
No one gets sick, no one gets old
No more fighting, no more striving anymore’

What a wonderful song! This may not be the ‘I’ll Fly Away’ song that you expected, but that beloved hymn is still referenced at the end of this version.

Josiah Queen, Zac Lawson, Benjamin Hastings, and John Michael Howell were the writers behind this version of ‘I’ll Fly Away.’ The song is part of Josiah Queen’s upcoming album titled Mt. Zion, which will be released this August. This album is a follow-up to The Prodigal, which was Josiah’s independently released debut album from 2024. The Prodigal has amassed over 140 million combined global streams to date.

When discussing ‘I’ll Fly Away’, Josiah notes that the song is a jubilant celebration of the sweet hereafter.

“‘I’ll Fly Away’ is a song of hope, rooted in the promise that this life isn’t the end. It’s about the day we’ll be reunited with our loved ones in Heaven – singing, worshiping, and embracing them once again in the presence of God,” shares Josiah. “I think of family and friends already there and this song feels like my heart is reaching toward that homecoming.”

Many people online shared their praise for Josiah’s new song and the encouragement it brought them.

“There’s something so pure about this version. The simplicity of it makes the message land even deeper — it feels less like a performance and more like worship from the heart. You can hear the sincerity in every line,” writes one person after watching the video.

We hope that you enjoyed listening to ‘I’ll Fly Away’ today!

Micah Tyler Drops 'Perfectly' Lyric Video

Check out this lyric video from Micha Tyler of his song ‘Perfectly.’ This song is a powerful, upbeat reminder that God loves imperfect people with a perfect love. It highlights that God's grace fills the gaps in our lives and encourages listeners to stop striving for perfection.

‘I give you failures and you give me grace
All of my problems don't push you away
And somehow you love somebody like me
Don't know how you do it but you do it perfectly, you do it perfectly’

What a great song! And one that offers hope to those who struggle with feeling "not good enough". In those moments, we can trust that God is faithful, near, and working, even when life feels messy, confusing, or uncertain.

Micah Tyler has become a trusted voice in contemporary Christian music, known for his honest lyrics and deeply personal storytelling. Some of the chart-topping songs he is known for include ‘Different,’ ‘Even Then,’ and ‘I See Grace.’

Before stepping into full-time music, Micah Tyler worked as a youth pastor in Texas, and this background continues to shape his heart for ministry. His songs often reflect real-life conversations about doubt, hope, grace, and perseverance.

Since teasing the first clip of ‘Perfectly’ over two months ago, the song has generated more than 12 million views across social media platforms. “I am absolutely stoked to release my new song, ‘Perfectly,'” shares Micah Tyler. “I’ve already seen so many people connect with this song live in concerts because I think we all just need to remember that it is not about us being perfect – it’s about us being loved perfectly by a perfect Savior.”

This is one song that really focuses on the Gospel message, reminding listeners that while we are flawed, we are still known, loved, and redeemed. We hope that you enjoyed listening to ‘Perfectly’ from Micah Tyler today!

Chris Tomlin Talks Winter Jam, Ancient Hymns, Worship and the Hope That Keeps Him Going

Chris Tomlin joins Crosswalk Talk's Michael Foust to discuss The First Hymn, a new film exploring the oldest known Christian hymn and the challenge of bringing its ancient words to life for today’s church. He explains why the project filled him with “fear and trembling,” how it deepened his love for hymns and why he believes worship has the power to lift our eyes above the chaos of the world. Tomlin also reflects on what he is seeing on the Winter Jam tour, including a growing hunger for worship and hope among audiences across the country. It’s a thoughtful conversation about music, faith, the early church and the everlasting King who still gives believers hope today.
