Iran Feeling the Squeeze of Tightening Sanctions; Economic D-Day Commences
The U.S. dollar is now trading at a historic 2 million rials: The British pound climbed above 2.72 million rials, while the euro approached 2.34 million rials. The dollar was trading at around 1.865 million rials at the beginning of last week, putting its rise at more than 7% in less than a week. It has also more than doubled from around 958,000 rials during the same period last year. Treasury Secretary Bessent is anticipating our endgame: At dawn begins an economic D-Day — the single greatest financial offensive ever marshalled against an adversary. For 47 years, the Islamic republic of Iran has been a malignant force in the world. Within Iran, a corrupt regime has consigned what would be one of the world’s strongest economies to ruin and its enterprising people to repression. The president has created the conditions to leverage every agency, every authority and action many assumed we would never summon. Any remaining tie to Tehran will hasten the economic ostracism of countries and entities, whether that tie be purposefully constructed or wilfully ignored. And if, as the regime’s grasp on power crumbles alongside its economy, Iran resorts to military action against US forces or its Gulf neighbours, make no mistake: President Trump will respond swiftly and decisively

Not many people know that number. It’s like 20 a day right now. We’re sending about 10 million barrels of oil a day. A thousand ships have gone through the Strait. The Iranians do not control the strait of Hormuz. We control the strait of Hormuz. So: if you finish the military campaign and take that off the table, we’re done. Open the Strait, keep the blockade on. The Iranian regime will eventually collapse.
