SCOTUS Rumors Swirl, Lara Trump Joins To Talk Midterms

Josh opens the show by tackling the growing rumors of a potential Supreme Court vacancy later this year and what it could mean for the future balance of the Court. He shares his thoughts on who he believes should be considered for the highest court in the land and makes the case that now is not the time for a “go-along-to-get-along” nominee—but rather a no-nonsense conservative willing to stand firm on the Constitution. Josh is then joined by Lara Trump, former RNC co-chair and Trump campaign senior advisor, to discuss the endgame in the war with Iran and how the conflict could shape the political landscape heading into the midterm elections. She also weighs in on the narrative that Republican momentum is fading—and why she believes the reality looks very different. Josh wraps up the show by reacting to Vice President JD Vance’s remarks at a recent TPUSA event, highlighting what his comments say about the direction of the conservative movement.

House Rejects Effort To Withdraw U.S. Forces From Iran War

The House has rejected a resolution requiring President Donald Trump to withdraw U.S. forces from the war with Iran unless Congress authorizes military action. The vote Thursday was the latest such attempt that fell short of passage as Republicans largely continue to support Trump’s operation. Democrats are concerned about the United States getting further entrenched in another lengthy Middle East conflict and are promising to keep raising the issue through more votes in the coming weeks. Republicans counter by noting that Congress never voted on a war powers resolution when the Biden administration attacked Iranian-backed Houthis.

Police Investigate Bomb Threat At Chicago-Area Home Of Pope Leo's Brother

Police on Thursday were investigating a bomb threat made to the Chicago-area home of Pope Leo's brother John Prevost after a search found no explosives or hazardous materials. A bomb threat was reported Wednesday evening at the home of John Prevost in New Lenox, Illinois, according to media outlets that cited police. Prevost lives on the same street cited as the location of the attack by police. New Lenox police did not return a call for comment on the report. The threat comes after President Donald Trump on Sunday attacked Pope Leo XIV, the first U.S. pope, over his criticism of the war in Iran. Leo is originally from Chicago. Police in New Lenox received the report of a bomb threat at a private residence on Wednesday evening and evacuated nearby homes as they searched the area. "After careful examination, investigators determined that the threat was unsubstantiated and that no explosive devices or hazardous materials were present," police said in a statement. The investigation was continuing in order to find the origin of the false report, they said. Leo leads the 1.4 billion-member Church and has emerged as an outspoken critic of the war. In unusually forceful remarks in Cameroon on Thursday, Leo blasted leaders who spend billions on wars and said the world was "being ravaged by a handful of tyrants." While he criticized Leo as being too liberal and "weak on crime," Trump praised his brother Louis, of Florida, for his support for Trump's MAGA movement. John Prevost is another of the pope's older brothers.

Hegseth Says Military Ready To Strike Iran's Power Plants, Energy Industry If Ordered

The U.S. naval blockade of Iran is just an example of "polite" behavior during the ongoing ceasefire and U.S. forces are ready to strike Iran's power plants and energy industry if ordered, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said on Thursday. Standing alongside two of the U.S. military's most senior officers, Hegseth said Iran needs to choose wisely as it prepares for negotiations with the United States. "We are reloading with more power than ever before, and better intelligence," Hegseth said at a Pentagon news briefing. "We are locked and loaded on your critical dual-use infrastructure, on your remaining power generation, and on your energy industry. We'd rather not have to do it." President Donald Trump's administration expressed optimism on Wednesday about reaching a deal to end the Iran war, while also warning of increasing economic pressure against Iran if it remains defiant. That has included a blockade of Iran that went into effect on ‌Monday, with the U.S. military forcing 14 ships to turn around. Dozens of U.S. warships and aircraft, including about 10,000 military personnel, are enforcing the blockade. Trump is hoping the effort will force Iran to accept U.S. terms for ending the war, which was launched by the U.S. and Israel on February 28, including opening up the Strait of Hormuz, a waterway through which roughly one fifth of global oil and gas exports ordinarily transits. Trump has said that was also a condition of the ceasefire due to expire next week. The war has resulted in the largest-ever disruption of global oil and gas supplies. Analysts have said that Iran can withstand a complete halt in oil exports of up to two months before being forced to curb production. Hegseth, in comments aimed at the Iranian leadership, said that the blockade "is the polite way that this can go." Admiral Brad Cooper, the head of U.S. Central Command, which oversees military operations in the Middle East, said the military was adjusting tactics, techniques and procedures, but he did not provide any details. During the same briefing, General Dan Caine, chairman of the U.S. military's Joint Chiefs of Staff, added that American forces are "ready to resume major combat operations at literally a moment's notice." U.S. Navy ships would pursue any Iranian-flagged vessel or any vessel attempting to provide material support to Iran, Caine told the briefing. He added that could take place not just in the region, but also the Indo-Pacific. Ships trying to break the blockade would be intercepted and warned that "if you do not comply with this blockade, we will use force," and enforcement would occur inside Iran's territorial seas and in international waters, Caine said. No ships have been boarded so far, Caine said. The U.S. military has widened its blockade to include cargoes deemed contraband, and any vessels suspected of trying to reach Iranian territory will be "subject to belligerent right to visit and search," the U.S. Navy said in an advisory on Thursday. "These vessels, regardless of location, are subject to visit, board, search, and seizure," the Navy said in an updated advisory. Contraband items listed included weapons, weapons systems, ammunition, nuclear materials, crude and refined oil products as well as iron, steel and aluminum. Sources briefed by Tehran have told Reuters that Iran could let ships sail freely through the Omani side of the Strait of Hormuz without risk of attack under proposals it has offered in talks with the U.S., providing a deal is ‌clinched to prevent renewed conflict.

Trump Says Israel, Lebanon Agree To 10-Day Ceasefire

President Trump says Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire. The president’s announcement came after Lebanon and Israel held their first direct diplomatic talks in decades this week here in Washington hosted by Secretary of State Rubio. For more than a month, Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah militant group have been at war. The president wrote on social media that he had “excellent” conversations with Lebanon’s president and Israel’s prime minister and that he’ll be inviting them for talks in Washington.
